Are you looking for tips on losing weight? Are you expecting this article to be another waste of your time discussing the easiest way to lose weight? If so, go ahead and save yourself some time and calories and jump to the next “You will lose 50 pounds in 50 days website!” because this information is not for you!
However, if you are sick and tired of all the fad diets out there, continue to read on, as I know this information will peak your interest.
I hear this same plead from new patients on a daily basis: “Dr. King, I have tried dieting, I have joined this weight loss program, I have exercised…I have basically starved myself…BUT I can’t lose weight!!!”
Have you tried all the weight loss secrets? Followed a particular food plan to the “T”, but still only lost 10-15 pounds…only to gain it back in several months down the road? Maybe you have tried the quick weight loss supplements that are advertised in the magazines and on TV infomercials. And the end result has always been the same = frustration!!!
Why, if you are trying so hard to lose weight, are you still not shedding the pounds like you would expect? You must think of the bigger picture – A SICK BODY DOES NOT LOSE WEIGHT!
Wait a minute…most people think that if you are sick, you drop weight! I am not talking about the flu/cold/mono/etc. I am talking about having an underlying health condition: adrenal fatigue, gut dysfunction, or a thyroid gland condition.
Let me start with gut dysfunction. In the last 3 weeks, I have seen and tested 3 new patients that all had H. Pylori, parasites, and bacterium within their gastro-intestinal tract. Did they know it? NO! Did their doctor test for it? NO! Did they all have gastro-intestinal symptoms? NO! If your GI system is being ‘attacked’ from bacterium and parasites, it will be in a chronic state of inflammation (bloatiness for some) and the gut lining (small intestines) will NOT be able to absorb vitamins and minerals.
Think about his for a minute…if your GI system, which is 80% of your immune system, is chronically inflamed (you do NOT always have symptoms as your gut lining does NOT have pain fibers) and is not absorbing vitamins and minerals, what do you think the chances are that you will have a healthy metabolism? Slim to none!
Then you start to add in constipation and elimination difficulties, food sensitivities/allergies, and conditions such as irritable bowel syndrome/Crohn’s Disease/Celiac Disease…and losing weight becomes a tougher task to perform.
If you have read some of my last posts, you will know that the adrenal glands affect how blood sugar is controlled, as well as how the thyroid gland is working. Your thyroid gland is the master controller of metabolism (controlled by the hypothalamus and pituitary gland). Majority of women/men that I see in the clinic with weight loss difficulties, have either adrenal gland dysfunction and/or thyroid gland dysfunction. These same patients have been put on Synthroid, Armour Thyroid, and Levothyroxine…BUT, they are still having the same symptoms = fatigue, weight loss difficulties, hair loss, sleep issues, and hormone abnormalities.
If your body is suffering from any of the above conditions, you have a SICK BODY! If you are still struggling with symptoms, regardless of the medication you are on, or diets you have tried, or personal trainer you have hired…then your doctors might be missing some crucial pieces to your health puzzle!
